Welcome to our exclusive mailing list only wines, which we have named the ‘Merlot Academy'. What we have created is a range of wines that though serious are meant to be enjoyed as part of living a full and rewarding life.

The inspiration for the label by sixteenth century Flemish artist Pieter Brueghel shows the folk in the pictures - entitled the Wedding Dance and the Wedding Feast - enjoying a good time dancing, eating and drinking. It is those simple pleasures that were the inspiration for this range of wines.

A little bit about the artist:

Pieter Brughel (about 1525-69) was otherwise known as Peter Brueghel the Elder or Peasant Brueghel. It was paintings like the Wedding Dance and the Wedding Feast that earned him that reputation. He liked the honesty of peasant life and saw it in the larger relationship with nature. That was the appeal of these paintings. As winemaking and grape growing are integral with nature, so is the rhythm of village life.

The wines are especially made for mail order only and are quite different from our Irvine branded wines.

You will recognise that these are component wines that we use in the Irvine branded wines but the Brueghel wines are very different in structure.

Over time we will be offering you wines that explore some new and exciting aspects of wine drinking, and as Merlot Academy members you will get exclusivity when the wines are released. Look out for regular additions to our Brueghel range.
